UPDATES AND NOTICES ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

Welcome to our website! We hope this site will answer your questions about incorporation and explain how it will affect you, your quality of life and your community. We will also try to address any rumors you've heard about becoming an incorporated village and let you know how you can have a say in the decision making process. We hope this site clearly explains why we believe becoming a village is crucial to the revitalization and preservation of our community.

Click on the tabs above like "The SPVEC", "Why A Village?", "The Village Process", etc. for more information.

Our proposed village boundaries are from the south service road of Sunrise Highway to
Smith Point Park. Please feel free to email us with any questions or suggestions at SPVEC11967@aol.com or call us at 772-2042

"Villages are one of the most efficient forms of government as they provide essential services to their residents and, in many instances, to the residents of the towns in which they lie." Peter Baynes, Executive Director,
New YorkState Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials (NYCOM)

8/17/2010 At the Town of Brookhaven town hall meeting, the town stated for the record that there is NO HAMLET OF SMITH POINT! We are already a hamlet (Hamlet of Shirley). Has being a hamlet improved our community? Do we have control over what happens in our community? The answer is NO.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Vote YES for a village and take control over what happens in our community!

Here's an interesting link about the history of our area, for those who want to say that we are ruining or changing the history of Smith Point. http://spoonercentral.com/2010/Egbert.html
